Tuesday, November 06, 2018
The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) honored Jonathon Beard and Mark Coscarelli of Public Sector Consultants with the 2018 Friend of Conservation Award on Tuesday, October 30th during the MACD Fall Convention held in Bellaire, MI.

MACD annually presents the Friend of Conservation Award to recognize the outstanding contributions of an individual or organization for their efforts to improve the public's understanding of natural resource conservation, for participation in conservation practices in cooperation with a Conservation District, and to further the mission of Michigan Conservation Districts. Michigan Conservation Districts are the local providers of natural resource management services that help our citizens conserve their lands and our state's resources for a cleaner, healthier, and economically stronger Michigan.

"MACD is pleased to honor Jonathon Beard and Mark Coscarelli of Public Sector Consultants with the 2018 Friend of Conservation Award," said Lori Phalen, MACD Executive Director. "Jon and Mark have worked closely with the Clinton Conservation District for over a decade and have been integral to the success of the District's work within the Maple River Watershed."

Jonathon Beard, Senior Consultant and Mark Coscarelli, Senior Policy Fellow, assisted the District to improve the health and education of citizens within the Maple River Watershed. With their help, the District has developed a targeted outreach plan for citizens and they have helped inform local public policy through work on an innovative septic system maintenance ordinance for the three-county health department region.

Public Sector Consultants (PSC) is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents of Michigan and beyond through the development and implementation of innovative, actionable public policies. They understand the importance of Michigan's natural resource base and work with Michigan Conservation Districts across the state to improve and protect our natural resources.
