Michigan Representatives Attend NACD Legislative Day in Washington DC

Elaine Brown, MACD Secretary Treasurer participated in the National Association of Conservation Districts annual Spring Legislative Fly-In which took place in Washington, D.C.  on Tuesday, March 20.

The NACD Spring Legislative Fly-In was well-attended, with conservation district, state and federal agency participation from across the United States working together to promote the interests of conservation districts on Capitol Hill.

"We were pleased to be able to participate in this important event", said Art Pelon, MACD President. "Elaine is a great spokesperson, she understands the power of Conservation Districts in providing technical assistance and programs to farmers and landowners." 

Elaine attended the Fly-In with fellow Michigan representatives, Melissa Higbee, Shiawassee Conservation District Executive Director and Garry Lee, USDA-NRCS State Conservationist. The Michigan contingent met with Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Michigan's congressional members and staff, and attended NACD sponsored activities including the Congressional Reception in the evening.
