MACD is pleased to support SepticSmart Week.

SepticSmart Week of September 17-21, 2018, highlights the importance of septic system maintenance to protect public health, preserving our groundwater, lakes, streams and waterways, and helping home owners avoid costly repairs.

The following proclamation was signed to support this important effort:

WHEREAS, proper septic system use and routine care are vital to protecting public health, preserving our highly valued groundwater, lakes, streams and waterways, and avoiding costly repairs that can result from neglect; and

WHEREAS, Michigan Conservation Districts are the local providers of natural resource management services that help our citizens conserve their lands and our environment for a cleaner, healthier, economically stronger Michigan.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SepticSmart program is used by Michigan Conservation Districts to educate homeowners about the need for proper septic system use and routine maintenance; and

WHEREAS, residents and the environment of Michigan benefit from properly designed, installed, operated, and maintained septic systems;

NOW THEREFORE, the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts do hereby proclaim the week of September 17-21, 2018 as SepticSmart Week. The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts and the 75 Conservation District members, urge Michigan citizens to join us in this special observance.
