2011 MACD Convention Awards

The Michigan Association of Conservation Districts annually awards the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations during the Awards Banquet held during the MACD Convention.

Each year an outstanding Conservation District Director is selected to receive the Director of the Year Award and an individual or organization who works with Michigan's Conservation Districts is selected to receive the Friend of Conservation Award.

Additionally, MACD in partnership with the Michigan Association of Conservation District Employees selects an outstanding Conservation District to receive the District of the Year Award.

It is the distinct pleasure of MACD and MACDE to recognize the significant contributions of this year's award winners.

The Conservation District Director of the Year Award for 2011 was awarded to John Mitchell, Branch Conservation District Board Chairman and MACD Region 8 Representative for his outstanding work and leadership in advocating for conservation concerns at the local, state and national level.

John has served as a member of the Branch Conservation District Board for 30 years.  He currently serves as Region 8 representative on the MACD State Council and participates on the Michigan Envirothon Program Steering Committee.
